This dissertation elaborates how full-time trainers in technical occupations perceive the everyday's work with apprentices, which goals they formulate for apprenticeship training, how they support the young people's psychopedagogical developments and how they find their role within the company. The results contradict many findings in German VET research, according to which in-company trainers have a lack of pedagogical self concepts. As theoretical framework, the established idea of development tasks (Erickson 1972, Blankertz 1985) was enriched by a vocational education perspective (Bremer 2004), which brings more light into what pedagogical concepts are how they can be reflected.
