Authors: | Liu, Huan | Supervisor: | Mädler, Kathrin | 1. Expert: | Bonner, Caroline | Abstract: | First part of my PhD thesis: enteroviral RNA in the pancreas is significantly increased in T1D but no association of enteroviral infection and T2D. Second part of my PhD thesis: On one hand, the infected pancreatic exocrine cells can amplify and spread the virus to the islet. so which infection directly target islet beta cell. And on the other hand, an indirectly way which the YAP OE in exocrine cell activate immune cell then later promote inflammation and destroy pancreatic beta cell. The combination of these 2 model can explain why upregulation of YAP in the exocrine can target pancreatic islet and initiate autoimmunity and destruction of beta cell. |
