The mean particle diameter was about 2 nm for all samples irrespective of the metal composition or the presence of organic ligands during synthesis. This enables to systematically study the influence of the metal composition and a surface functionalization with organic ligands on the catalytic properties while excluding particle size effects. The catalytic properties of the monometallic and bimetallic nanoparticles were investigated in the hydrogenation of crotonaldehyde as well as the selective hydrogenation of acetylene to ethylene in ethylene-rich streams. Further, The influence of organic ligands on the geometric and electronic surface properties of colloidally prepared Pt nanoparticles (Pt NPs) was investigated by means of diffuse reflectance infrared spectroscopy (DRIFTS) using CO as probe molecule. |
