Other Titles: | Monodispersive foams:Generation and application as a spatially structured two-phase medium for chemical gas/liquid- reactions | Authors: | Mathes, Hendrik | Supervisor: | Plath, Peter J. | 1. Expert: | Plath, Peter J. | Experts: | Friedrich, Rudolf | Abstract: | Monodispersive foams are gas/liquid-dispersions of unique quality with exceptional physicochemical properties. A universal method for uniform bubble formation and continuous foam generation was developed and realised by static mixers consisting of microfluidic channels. Simultaneous control of bubble sizes and gas/liquid-composition of foam creates new perspectives for the generation of regular structured two-phase media with a singular reproducibility of phase distribution. Common processes of bubble formation, two-phase flows in microchannels and properties of monodispersive foams were experimentally studied. Spatiotemporal kinetics of gas/liquid-reactions were observed in structured bubble arrangements by implementation of chemical reactive species into gaseous and liquid phase of dispersions. |
