BerichtBand:5146 263 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item-typ:Veröffentlichung, Exploring Entrepreneurship Phenomena from Theoretical/Conceptual Aspects(2020)This issue covers rich entrepreneurship-related topics in variety. The first article, "Absorptive Capacity in the Context of Accelerators - Gaining Competitive Advantages through Knowledge Absorption" illuminates the role of knowledge absorption for accelerators, which represent a novel form of entrepreneurial support organizations. The second article, "Towards Understanding Culture in Entrepreneurial Ecosystems", deals with entrepreneurial ecosystems a "hot" topic, which has recently received rapidly growing attention from both regional policymakers and entrepreneurship scholars. By applying the framework of organizational culture, this author group investigates how we can understand the cultural aspect of entrepreneurial ecosystems. The third paper, "Entrepreneurs I Poverty through the Lens of Bricolage", takes a closer look at the way entrepreneurs in penurious environments can respond to resource constraints, which emerge through three different types of poverty: social, psychological, and political poverty. The fourth article is "Student Entrepreneurship: An Application of the Theory of Planned Behavior" observes students' entrepreneurial activities by paying particular attention to the context in which students are embedded and how they influence their attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control. The final article, "Resources of Transnational Entrepreneurs Achieving Competitive Advantages", analyzes entrepreneurs who conduct business in transitional settings from the resource-based view. They highlight three types of resources, networks, experience, and knowledge, which transnational entrepreneurs can build through their dual embeddedness in their country of origin and residence.BerichtBand:4232 210 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item-typ:Veröffentlichung, The Role of Accelerators in Startup Ecosystems(2019)The following research papers have been developed with advanced students in the last couple of months at University of Bremen, Germany. All the three papers contribute to the overarching topic of accelerators in startup ecosystems and, thus, fit nicely under one thematic umbrella. Lisa Ahuis, Irfan Cheema, Franziska Otten, Chantal-Laureen Pensky and Vanessa Vogt start this research paper by specifying the role of accelerators as drivers of a startup ecosystem. The raise the following research question: how can accelerators influence the institutional framework in ecosystems as change agents? Based on a comprehensive literature review and conceptual foundations, they apply institutional theory to specify institutional change and develop preliminary causalities to be checked by an empirical approach that rests on grounded theory. Caspar Michael Majewski analyzes based on a Master’s Thesis previously written the social capital acceleration in startup ecosystems with a focus on the role of business accelerators. There are different capitals provided in startup ecosystems. It seems that social capital is of pivotal relevance and deserves much more attention than paid to date. Insofar, the paper targets a well-chosen research gap and followed by this research question: what role do business accelerators play in the acceleration of social capital within startup ecosystems? Majewski responds to this question by an empirical research design that rests on a case study. The empirical background is the dynamic and well-developed startup ecosystem of Berlin. Jannik Blischke addresses the role of a private business accelerator in an emerging startup ecosystem. The paper is based on a Bachelor’s Thesis written prior to paper development. The empirical background is Bremen where the ecosystem is still in an infant, but moving state. The Kraftwerk City Accelerator is the targeted accelerator. To specify the role of this accelerator, Blischke refers to a model of capitals of startup ecosystems developed by Juling et al. (2016). The empirical fieldwork rests predominantly on interviews and, besides that, on observations and secondary data sources.BerichtBand:3394 371 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item-typ:Veröffentlichung, Recent Issues on Transnational Entrepreneurship(2018)The following research papers have been developed with advanced students in a research seminar in 2017 at University of Bremen, Germany. The student teams developed condensed project reports of their research activities that transformed in the papers following up this editorial. One by one, the papers to some extent tie in the above-mentioned three sets of questions and provide first answers. Mane Narimanyan and Tatevik Narimanyan address the motivational foundations of becoming a diaspora entrepreneur. A core ambition of the paper is to connect findings that, to date, relate predominantly to particular types of diaspora entrepreneurship. For an overview and a categorization, the paper identifies four different types of diaspora entrepreneurs. Another issue of the paper is the attempt to depart from a solely qualitative view on motivation and to take quantitative measurement aspects into account. In this vein, numeric relations between motivational factors were introduced. Nicoletta Capriuolo, Alessandro Cuman, Ambra Evandri, Federico Gianni and Arianna Saturni research on entrepreneurship in ethnic enclaves. Based on a literature-based content analysis, the authors develop a framework of determinants of self-employment and a model identifying performance indicators of ethnic ventures. The paper challenges traditional views od ethnic enclaves by shedding light on more recent settings with ethnic enclaves as a cohesive social body beyond solely geographical aspects. Lisa Ahuis, Myra Louise Grewe, Franziska Otten and Helena Rolf both summarize and analyze the state of the art in returnee entrepreneurship. As the field of returnee entrepreneurship is wide open, the authors frame their consideration by dwelling on the following research questions: which aspects of returnee entrepreneurship have been studied so far and why? Moreover, they ask about the gaps of previous research. For a first access to available research results, the authors focus their paper on a limited set of criteria to locate the nature of literature contributions. This set considers discipline, methodology, country of origin and industry background of the relevant articles and provides readers with a first orientation as to this interesting and developing field of research.BerichtBand:2194 143 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item-typ:Veröffentlichung, Exploring Diaspora Entrepreneurship(2016)Die erste Ausgabe umfasst vier Artikel, welche verschiedene Aspekte hinsichtlich Diaspora Entrepreneurship analysieren. Wissenschaftlicher ArtikelBand:1249 481
