Abstract:
During this work, stable bis(1,3dimesitylphenyl)dichalcogenide radical cations of sulphur, selenium and tellurium have been established via the one-electron oxidation with NO(SbF6) and fully characterized. SQUID as well as ESR measurements have been used to demonstrate and quantify the paramagnetism. For all radical cations crystal structures have been obtained showing remarkable differences to their corresponding parent compounds. Furthermore monoorganochalcogenyl cations of tellurium have been stabilised with a series of triphenylpnictogens. [MesTe(TeMes2)]O3SCF3, known from previous works, was used as a starting material for the substituition of the weak lewis base Mes2Te. A series of compounds, beginning with the previously isolated [MesTe(PPh3)]O3SCF3, was extended with [MesTe(AsPh3)]O3SCF3 and the more complex compound [MesTe(SbPh3)][Ph2Sb(O3SCF3)2]. The molecular structures exhibit tellurium pnictogen bond lengths in the range of normal single bonds.
