Authors: | Schäfer, Robert | Supervisor: | Dirk Hennigs | Abstract: | The aim of this work is to identify and to illustrate design guidelines for manufacturing for Rapid Prototyping Components, which are manufactured by Fused Deposition Modeling.The approaches of a methodical and systematic developing of products by means of VDI Guide-lines (VDI The Association of German Engineers) should serve to use the potential of Rapid Prototyping Technology during the product development, because by these procedures the possibil-ity exists to lift the present restrictions in the geometrical freedoms partially. Components, which are made by Rapid Prototyping Technology, can be optimally and individually adapted in their geometry to the demanded functions under accounting manufacturing conditions. With the help of the Fused Deposition Modeling the constraints on the application and specific procedure conditions are worked out. Besides, material properties and process properties are con-sidered to be able to derive design guidelines for manufacturing. |
