Expert: | Nullmeier, Frank | Experts: | Obinger, Herbert | Abstract: | This dissertation looks at the financial security of non-typical employees in their old age. Statistics show a decline in normal employment contracts and an increase in non-standard employment. A theoretical explanation for these changes can be put forward by different economical theories. The advantages and disadvantages of non-typical employment for the employees and employers concerned and their motives will be discussed. All the appropriate laws and pension reforms since 1990 will be investigated where they contain rules for the financial security of non-typical employees. The outcome of this survey is that this financial security is usually inadequate and it has to be expected that the state will be forced to guarantee a basic financial support. With the Flexicurity concept possible solutions for the improvement of old-age financial security are outlined. |
