Zusammenfassung
Around 10% of the total amount of ozone is in the troposphere, where anthropogenic emissions lead to its production and where it acts as a greenhouse gas. Furthermore, overexposure to this pollutant causes health problems and damage to vegetation. Valuable information on tropospheric ozone can be obtained globally by combining space-borne limb and nadir measurements (limb-nadir matching, LNM). This dissertation presents a scientific tropospheric ozone column (TrOC) dataset from the Ozone Mapper and Profiler Suite instrument (OMPS) retrieved using the limb matching technique. First, a total ozone column dataset from the OMPS-Nadir Mapper is presented, the full description of the retrieval and the dataset validation. The second part of the dissertation is the OMPS-LNM TrOC dataset, the retrieval, an extensive analysis of the uncertainty dataset and its validation. Finally, a study case is undertaken, which addresses the analysis of the TrOC over the Mediterranean Sea during the last decade.
