Custom Transport Interface for the Integration of Trusted Network Connect in German Smart Metering Systems

Abstract: | The integration of Trusted Network Connect (TNC) enhances the overall security of the German Smart Metering System. For that reason, the research project SPIDER has described a concept to integrate TNC into the German Smart Metering System. However, the project has discovered contradictions between the standards, which are defined for the German Smart Metering System and the standards that describe TNC regarding the protocols for the transmission of data. This paper describes and analyzes the different disagreeing standards and evaluates different approaches to overcome these contradictions by reusing existing protocols for the transmission of TNC data in compliance with the standards regarding the German Smart Metering System. |
