Authors: | Wieting, Daria | Supervisor: | Brinkmann, Dieter | Abstract: | Beach tourism represents the favourite travel form of the german population. However, the typical beach holidays maintain the mass market and lead to grave ecological and social-cultural consequences. The beach tourists have to travel in a sustainable way to reduce the negative effects of the tourism. Based on the empirical quantitative research, the travel behavior of the german beach travellers as well as their attitude toward sustainable tourism will be analysed. On the basis of the survey results, a typology of different travellers will be established. It seems clear that holidays of the majority of the beach travellers are not sustainable. At the same time, many tourists show an interest in ecologically friendly and socially acceptable holidays. Stakeholders in tourism have to take serious measures to strengthen the sustainable tourism. |
