Abstract:
The ship left the harbour of Recife just in time after the breakfast of the 2nd December 1999. All containers had arrived the day before and were brought on deck of the ship or were unloaded. Also all scientists had arrived safely after a long flight from Bremen via Frankfurt and Sao Paulo to Recife. Our Brazilian guest scientists Dr. Arthur Ayres Neto and Carlos Lacerda de Souza from the Laboratorio de Geologia Marinha in Niteroi had arrived in Recife already one day before. For Brazil Jair L. Senorans was the official observer and guest on board, for Uruguay came as observer and guest Alejandro Martinez Briao; an observer for Argentina withdraw his originally anticipated participation short time before the cruise started.
