Abstract:
Modelling and simulating complex systems requires an understanding of the underlying processes. This seems to be a trivial statement but a model formulated in a formalism (e.g. differential equations) is not by default self-explanatory.Different perspectives onto the same problem helps to understand its characteristics better. The number of perspectives alone does not solve the problem. Multiple perspectives are only useful when they are related to each other. This thesis investigates how automated transitions between different models of the same system can be build. It develops a modelling and simulation environment that allows seamless changes between these perspectives during the modelling or simulation phase.
