Other Titles: | CRDS Measurements for the Characterisation of a Standard Parameterisation for Atmospheric Remote Sensing Purposes | Authors: | Reichert, Lars | Supervisor: | Andres Hernandez, Maria Dolores | 1. Expert: | Burrows, John P. | Experts: | Staude, Wilfried | Abstract: | In the first part of this thesis a cw CRD spectroscope is developed and designed in order to implement it into an environment, enabling the subsequent highly accurate measurements of two weak water vapour lines in the close vicinity of strong lines in a wide temperature and pressure range (251-296K, 100-1020 mbar) at about 940 nm. In the second part, the standard parameterisation of absorption spectra is analysed respective to the ability to reproduce the measured spectra depending on the particular temperature and pressure range in a highly accurate manner. As a result, the use of the Voigt profile limits the accuracy to about 3.5%, while the use of the Galatry profile improves the reproducibility in the line core to a part. There is nevertheless evidence for other effects such as line mixing or a variation of the form of the line profile depending on temperature. Additionally, the predictions for the water vapour continuum at 940 nm were confirmed on the basis of laboratory measurements for the first time. |
