Zusammenfassung
The evolutionary development and specialized morphology of insect legs are traced from their origins in early arthropods during the Cambrian explosion to the diverse forms observed in modern insects. The segmentation and biomechanical adaptations of insect legs are discussed, showcasing their functionality in walking, running, digging, jumping, prey capture, and swimming. Insect leg joints and adhesive systems—both hairy and smooth pads—are examined, with a focus on their roles in locomotion and substrate attachment.
