The study is based on biographical-narrative interviews with breast cancer patients. In addition to experiencing disease processes of interaction descriptions are analyzed. Became clear that meeting and negotiating various forms of knowledge a central element in the stories of women. Mediation, enforcement or disregard of knowledge systems are the focus from the perspective of the women described encounters between professionals and diseased women. Breast cancer patients meet together with their biographical knowledge to turn the knowledge systems of professionals and institutions. The processes and consequences that this basis can be described, provide starting points for reflection on the changing practices of care of breast cancer patients and raise new research questions.
