Item-typ:Veröffentlichung, Figurationen des Orients. Eine Analyse von August Tholucks Orientbild und seiner Beziehung zur deutschen Orientalistik im 19. Jahrhundert.In dieser Monographie wird der Beantwortung von drei Forschungsfragen nachgegangen, die sich mit dem Erweckungstheologen Friedrich August Gotttreu Tholuck befassen. Zunächst soll die Analyse von Tholucks Orientschriften darüber Auskunft geben, wie er seinen Orient charakterisiert und gestaltet hat sowie in welchem Verhältnis dieses Bild zu den zeitgenössischen Orientdiskursen steht. Im Anschluss soll kritisch hinterfragt werden, ob sich aus den Ergebnissen die vermeintlich große Bedeutung Tholucks für den deutschen Orientalismus ablesen lassen kann. Item-typ:Veröffentlichung, The Self Across the Gap of Death : Some Christian Constructions of Continued Identity from Athenagoras to Ratzinger and Their Relevance to Digital Reconstitutions(2018)The difficulty of continuity of identity across the gap of death is a well-known problem in Christian eschatology. This article looks at three ways in which this has been addressed by Christian theologians: Relational Material Identity, Natural Numerical Identity, and Supernaturally Established Permanence. These three approaches are then abstracted and applied to the problem of the continuity of a game-body across a gap of non-existence presented either by in-game death or by program termination. Pointing out difficulties in Relational Material Identity, a tentative model of Natural Numerical Identity is seen as possible, while the Supernaturally Established Permanence, in this case rooted in the mind of the player, is seen as the most plausible means of guaranteeing continuity for a game body across gaps of non-existence.Wissenschaftlicher ArtikelBand:9621 171 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

On the Potential of Digital Games and Game Jams for Civic Education(2020-12-21); ; ; ; Some digital games deal with politics and democracy and are appropriate for civic education. Schools that want to include these games in their curriculum do not have to rely on commercial products alone, but can also use other easily available games and simple tools. Often these are even created by young people in game jams. Item-typ:Veröffentlichung, Extending the Dimensions of the Social World through GameWorlds(2015)Alfred Schutzâ s dimensions of the social world was a key component of his phenomenology of the life-world. As Schutz saw it the life-world is arranged around us as its zero-point determined by the â Here and Nowâ we occupy. From there the lifeworld extends into various zones determined by their relation to our â Here and Nowâ in terms of space and time. The dimensions of the social world built up the sort of werelationship that was possible with the Other depending on the zone they occupied within the life-world. Due to the time of his writing, Schutzâ s dimensions could not have factored in the internet and a recent article by Shangyang Zhao (2004) has attempted to extend the dimensions in relation to internet interaction. Building of this, it is the purpose of this paper to extend Schutzâ s dimensions by looking at First Person Shooters. Entstehung und Auswirkungen eines Säkularisierungsprozesses(2020-12-15)Im Großherzogtum Luxemburg stand im Laufe des letzten Jahrzehntes insbesondere ein Thema im Mittelpunkt vieler politischer und gesellschaftlicher Debatten: die Trennung von Staat und Religion. Mit dem Argument, den Interessen und der Pluralität der luxemburgischen Gesellschaft gerecht zu werden, wurde die Säkularisierung vor allem durch die 2013 gewählte Regierung Bettel-SchneiderI erheblich vorangetrieben. Liz Lambert analysiert einzelne Aspekte dieses Säkularisierungsprozesses, indem sie erstens einen historischen Abriss der diesbezüglichen Entwicklungen seit der Zeit Napoleons darlegt, zweitens eine Analyse der jüngeren Entwicklungen (Regierungswechsel von 2013 und Abkommen von 2015) anstellt und drittens darauf eingeht, wie sich dieser Prozess auf die religiösen Institutionen sowie die freigeistigen Vereine ausgewirkt hat.BuchBand:10796 3795 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
